Fractal damage and crack propagation in decoupled charge blasting

Chenxi Ding et al.

Summary: The decoupling coefficient and filling medium are two key factors influencing the effectiveness of decoupled charge blasting. The filling medium buffers and weakens the transfer of blasting energy in decoupled charge blasting, inhibiting crush zone formation and reducing fractal damage in the breakage zone. Different filling media have significant differences in the formation of the fracture zone. A reasonable decoupling coefficient can increase the concentration of energy carrying blast-induced cracks, expanding the range of the fracture zone and improving the fragmentation effect.
