Nanocomposites of reduced graphene oxide with pure monoclinic-ZrO2 and pure tetragonal-ZrO2 for selective adsorptive removal of oxytetracycline

Dong Hao et al.

Summary: By controlling the dosage of triethanolamine, two nanocomposites of monoclinic-ZrO2@rGO and tetragonal-ZrO2@rGO were successfully prepared, with the tetragonal-ZrO2@rGO exhibiting a higher adsorptive amount for OTC. Both nanocomposites show a selective uptake of OTC among tetracycline antibiotics, with adsorption reaching equilibrium in 15 minutes and being independent of pH in the range of 4-8. The interactions between OTC and the nanocomposites were revealed through Fourier transform infrared and XRD analysis, with surface complexation, pi-pi, and cation-pi bonding interactions playing a crucial role.

Coupled Transfer Hydrogenation and Alcoholysis of Furfural To Yield Alkyl Levulinate over Multifunctional Zirconia-Zeolite-Supported Heteropoly Acid

Lincai Peng et al.

Summary: In this study, a bifunctional zirconia-zeolite-supported heteropoly acid catalyst was successfully designed to convert furfural to alkyl levulinate through a one-pot conversion combining transfer hydrogenation and alcoholysis. The selectivity towards alkyl levulinate was observed to be strongly influenced by the distribution of acid sites, with the HPMo(20)/Zr-MCM-41 catalyst showing high efficiency with isopropanol as a hydrogen donor. This monolithic catalyst exhibited good stability and could be reused multiple times without significant change in product yield.
