Carbon emission pinch analysis (CEPA) for planning the decarbonization of the UK power sector

Matteo Cossutta et al.

Summary: This study conducted Carbon Emissions Pinch Analysis (CEPA) for the planning of deep cuts in carbon dioxide emissions of the UK's electric power generation sector. Different scenarios for years 2030 and 2050 were proposed based on constraints like power plant conditions, renewable energy resources, and technological transitions. Achieving zero emissions for the UK's power generation sector is possible by utilizing sustainably grown biomass coupled with CCS technologies, as indicated by the results.
