Effect of the novel continuous variable compression ratio (CVCR) configuration coupled with spark assisted induced ignition (SAII) combustion mode on the performance behavior of the spark ignition engine

Jinhuan Guan et al.

Summary: The study introduces a novel continuous variable compression ratio (CVCR) system in the spark ignition engine, successfully achieving performance optimization in different compression ratio ranges. Results show that increasing compression ratio leads to higher combustion rate, shorter combustion duration, and decreased heat transfer rate.

Study of water direct injection on knock control and combustion process of a high compression ratio GDI engine

Qirui Zhang et al.

Summary: The study found that the water direct injection (WDI) system can effectively suppress engine knock but at the cost of reduced indicated thermal efficiency (ITE). Increasing water injection ratio (WIR) can decrease NOx emissions but increase HC emissions. Delaying water injection timing (WIT) leads to lower engine combustion efficiency and emissions.

Numerical investigation on combustion system optimization of stoichiometric operation natural gas engine based on knocking boundary extension

Zan Zhu et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that the combination of spiral intake manifold and K15 chamber shows better performance in antiknock, while the Miller cycle and EGR have significant impacts on combustion and antiknock performance extension in stoichiometric operation natural gas engine.

Deployment of fuel cell vehicles in China: Greenhouse gas emission reductions from converting the heavy-duty truck fleet from diesel and natural gas to hydrogen

Feiqi Liu et al.

Summary: Hydrogen fuel cells are gaining attention as a potential carbon mitigation strategy for heavy duty vehicles. This study calculates the greenhouse gas emissions of the Chinese heavy-duty truck fleet under four hydrogen fuel cell penetration scenarios, showing significant reductions in GHG emissions can be achieved by using fuel cell vehicles. By combining an analysis of the carbon intensity of various hydrogen production pathways with predictions of the future hydrogen supply structure in China and different penetration rates of heavy-duty fuel cell vehicles, practical applications of the research are provided.
