Influence of Anatase-Rutile Ratio on Band Edge Position and Defect States of TiO2 Homojunction Catalyst

Pooja P. Sarngan et al.

Summary: Designing one-dimensional mixed-phase TiO2 with defects near the valence band, experimental results revealed that band alignment between two phases, up-shift of band edge, and optimum anatase percentage play a crucial role in enhancing photocatalytic activity. We predicted shifts in band edge induced by surface electric dipole layer from defects.

Critical review on third generation micro algae biodiesel production and its feasibility as future bioenergy for IC engine applications

Ashwin Jacob et al.

Summary: Third generation micro algae feedstock cultivation and fuel production offer sustainable and economic benefits due to their microscopic nature. Each step in producing micro algae biodiesel can be optimized to improve production efficiency. Utilizing optimized micro algae biodiesel blends in IC engines requires calibrating engine parameters for ideal performance. Studies have shown that closed type reactors are effective for continuous cultivation of micro algae. Techno-economic analysis suggests that maintenance costs need to be significantly reduced for commercial availability of micro algae biodiesel.

Oxygen-rich bismuth oxybromide nanosheets coupled with Ag2O as Z-scheme nano-heterostructured plasmonic photocatalyst: Solar light-activated photodegradation of dye pollutants

Amir Haghighi et al.

Summary: The precipitation fabrication of Ag-Ag2O/Z-scheme heterojunction nanophotocatalyst enhanced the photocatalytic activity of Bi24O31Br10 for the degradation of acid orange 7 and eosin yellow. This enhancement can be attributed to the surface plasmon resonance effect of silver nanoparticles and the Z-scheme heterojunction structure, which effectively reduces the recombination of photogenerated charge carriers. The Ag-Ag2O/Bi24O31Br10(3:1) nanophotocatalyst showed good photocatalytic activity even after 4 runs.
