Experimental and modeling analysis on the optimization of combined VVT and EGR strategies in turbocharged direct-injection gasoline engines with VNT

Jose Galindo et al.

Summary: The research focused on analyzing a gasoline engine complying with EURO 6 standards in order to optimize combined VVT and EGR strategies for reducing fuel consumption. Through a combination of 1D engine simulations and limited experimental work, the most efficient configuration of VVT and EGR systems was determined. Additionally, a thorough evaluation of pressure traces and mass flows in intake and exhaust valves provided insights for the optimization process.

Combustion and emissions behaviors of a stoichiometric GDI engine with simulated EGR (CO2) at low load and different spark timings

Changming Gong et al.

Summary: The study found that actual EGR has a greater impact on combustion parameters, while inert gas in EGR exacerbates combustion. Spark timing has little effect on emissions at low load.
