Experimental investigation and prediction of performance and emission responses of a CI engine fuelled with different metal-oxide based nanoparticles-diesel blends using different machine learning algorithms

Umit Agbulut et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that the addition of nanoparticles in ICEs significantly reduces exhaust pollutants and improves engine performance. Machine learning algorithms, particularly deep learning, provide satisfactory results in predicting engine responses, with DL yielding the best results followed by ANN, SVM, and k-NN.

Estimation of Cold Flow Properties of Biodiesel from Fatty Acid Composition

Karla Aida Gomez-Rodriguez et al.

Summary: The study developed empirical correlations to estimate the cold flow properties of biodiesel from fatty acid composition. Results showed that the proposed models were more accurate than the compared models for the three properties studied, based on statistical analyses such as coefficient of determination and root mean squared error.

A relative assessment of chromatographic and spectroscopic based approaches to predict engine fuel properties of biodiesel

Kiran Raj Bukkarapu et al.

Summary: Biofuels, specifically biodiesel from renewable sources, have a greater potential for reducing carbon footprint in compression ignition engine applications compared to fossil diesel. Regression models based on composition and Fourier Transform Infrared spectra can accurately predict properties such as calorific value, cetane number, density, and kinematic viscosity of biodiesel samples, with minor errors. The chromatographic approach offers better prediction and also captures composition variations of biodiesel.

Electricity production based forecasting of greenhouse gas emissions in Turkey with deep learning, support vector machine and artificial neural network algorithms

Melahat Sevgul Bakay et al.

Summary: This paper aims to forecast GHG emissions from the electricity production sector in Turkey using DL, SVM, and ANN algorithms. The results show that all algorithms used in the study give satisfying results for the forecasting of GHG emissions in Turkey. The forecasting results indicate a high R-2 value for the emissions ranging from 0.861 to 0.998, categorized as excellent in terms of rRMSE, with all values below 10%.

Fourier-Transform-Infrared-Spectroscopy-Based Approach to Predict Engine Fuel Properties of Biodiesel

Kiran Raj Bukkarapu et al.

Summary: In this study, a Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR)-based approach was used to predict the properties of biodiesel by correlating a few independent variables based on the functional groups present in biodiesel. The results showed that this novel approach provided better prediction with mean absolute percentage errors of 4.62%, 1.04%, 2.75%, and 6.85% for the kinematic viscosity, density, higher calorific value, and cetane number of biodiesels, respectively, compared to the standard full spectrum PLS regression.
