Pollen-like self-supported FeIr alloy for improved hydrogen evolution reaction in acid electrolyte

Summary: In this study, self-supported FeIr alloy nanoparticles were prepared using solid-state synthesis method, with a novel pollen morphology consisting of smaller FeIr nanoparticles for more adequate adsorption of active H species. The FeIr alloy nanoparticles exhibited superior hydrogen evolution reaction performance in 0.5 M H2SO4, better than pure Ir and Pt/C.

Elevating the d-Band Center of Six-Coordinated Octahedrons in Co9S8 through Fe-Incorporated Topochemical Deintercalation

Summary: By redesigning the six-coordinated octahedrons in Co9S8 using an Fe-incorporated method, the overall d-band center is regulated to achieve optimized adsorption and superior OER activity. This work sheds light on the design of OER catalysts through polyhedron engineering using topochemical deintercalation, resulting in a 95 mV reduction in overpotential at 10 mA cm(-2).

This work provides inspiration for optimizing the intrinsic HER activity of related transition metal chalcogenides.

PtSe2/Pt Heterointerface with Reduced Coordination for Boosted Hydrogen Evolution Reaction

Summary: Constructing PtSe2/Pt heterointerface can enhance the reaction kinetics of PtSe2, achieving near thermoneutral free energy change for hydrogen evolution reaction. The activated Pt atoms near Se vacancies strengthen the adsorption of H-. intermediate, leading to extraordinary activity even superior to Pt/C, demonstrating the potential of NMDs for HER and providing insights for constructing novel heterointerfaces.
