Combined styles of depressurization and electrical heating for methane hydrate production

Juan He et al.

Summary: The study found that initiating electrical heating before depressurization and performing soaking at a pressure below equilibrium can increase hydrate dissociation rate and improve energy efficiency. Additionally, not using electrical heating during depressurization can significantly reduce water production rate and increase energy efficiency. The results suggest that careful consideration of the timing and conditions of electrical heating can optimize hydrate dissociation and energy use in hydrate exploitation.

Optimal injection timing and gas mixture proportion for enhancing coalbed methane recovery

Zhanglei Fan et al.

Summary: Optimal injection timing and gas mixture proportion are crucial for CO2 geological sequestration and enhanced recovery. The refined Thermo-hydro-mechanical (THM) coupling model, including an improved permeability model, was validated and applied to simulate gas mixture enhanced coalbed methane recovery. The results indicate that internal expansion coefficients, elastic modulus reduction ratios, and matrix diffusivity play important roles in affecting CO2 composition and CH4 production.

Feasibility study of enhanced biogenic coalbed methane production by super-critical CO2 extraction

Hongguang Guo et al.

Summary: The study presents a new approach of enhancing coalbed methane production by microbial degradation based on Sc-CO2 extraction. Results showed that Sc-CO2 plays a critical role in improving methane yields, forming more functional groups, and increasing coal bioavailability. This study proves the feasibility of enhancing CBM via microbial degradation with Sc-CO2 extraction.

Investigation of enhancing coal permeability with high-temperature treatment

Jiang Liu et al.

Summary: Enhancing coal permeability through formation heat treatment is an effective method for coalbed methane exploitation. The process involves removing residual water and inducing cracks in the coal structure, significantly increasing permeability. Additionally, the stimulation mechanisms consist of alleviating aqueous phase trapping, weakening coal mechanical properties, and inducing coal fracture to produce more gas flow channels.
