Influence of irradiance incidence angle and installation configuration on the deposition of dust and dust-shading of a photovoltaic array

Kudzanayi Chiteka et al.

Summary: The study found that the total shading of a soiled photovoltaic collector was 2.49% less when considering the shadow effect of dust particles. The optimal configurations for minimizing shading effects were tilt angles ranging from 15.84 degrees to 17.69 degrees at azimuth angles of 180 degrees to 189.9 degrees.

In-situ assessment of photovoltaic soiling mitigation techniques in northern Nigeria

Yusuf N. Chanchangi et al.

Summary: The study compared five cost-effective mitigation techniques for soiling on PV systems in Nigeria, finding that different cleaning methods and materials have varying impacts on PV performance in different seasons. Low iron glass proved more durable, with the self-cleaning technique showing the best results during the wet season.

Angular dependencies of soiling loss on photovoltaic performance in Nigeria

Yusuf N. Chanchangi et al.

Summary: The study found that the reduction in transmittance was most significant on horizontally positioned solar panels, with the least reduction on panels exposed vertically. Dust accumulation was highest on horizontally positioned panels and decreased gradually as the angle tilted towards vertical. This research highlights the importance of monitoring and predicting soiling events to optimize maintenance and restore PV performance.
