On the consideration of different dead states in the exergy assessment of a solar-assisted combined cooling, heat and power system

Eduardo J. C. Cavalcanti et al.

Summary: This study focuses on a solar-assisted trigeneration system for residential consumer center, considering different dead state temperatures in the exergy assessment. It found that the COP of the absorption system increases with the temperature of the heat source, and there is a slight decrease in the exergy efficiency of the engine and solar system with the increase of dead state temperature. The analysis of dead state temperatures is useful for exergoeconomic and exergoenvironmental analyses.

Exergoenvironmental analysis of a combined cycle power plant fueled by natural gas from an offshore platform

Eduardo J. C. Cavalcanti et al.

Summary: This study conducted a detailed, disaggregated Life Cycle Assessment for natural gas obtained from an offshore area in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil using the Eco-indicator 99 method. The results showed that the majority of environmental impacts were associated with purification at the refinery. Additionally, exergy and exergoenvironmental assessments quantified the environmental impacts associated with electricity production from natural gas in a combined cycle power plant.
