How Can Government Promote Technology Diffusion in Manufacturing Paradigm Shift? Evidence From China

Guannan Xu et al.

Summary: The traditional technology diffusion literature focuses on the diffusion of technologies within the existing manufacturing paradigm, while few studies have explored the determinants and mechanisms of technology diffusion when moving across manufacturing paradigms. This article aims to explore the intrinsic and institutional factors, as well as the impact mechanism on technology diffusion in the context of manufacturing paradigm shift. The study reveals that government interventions, especially indirect ones, have significant moderating effects on the influential mechanism of technology diffusion in a manufacturing paradigm shift.

Economic analysis of residential solar photovoltaic systems in China

Shoufeng Qiu et al.

Summary: Residential solar photovoltaic installations have flourished in China in recent years. This study provides a comprehensive economic assessment of county-level residential PV systems, finding that residential PV investments can break even across China, with particularly good performance in certain regions. The boom of residential PV installations may decline in 2021 due to the expiration of subsidies, but some excellent PV suppliers have the potential to compensate for this performance decrease.

The effects of the new Feed-In Tariff Act for solar photovoltaic (PV) energy in the wake of the Fukushima accident in Japan

Daoyuan Wen et al.

Summary: This study provides an overview of Japan's Feed-In Tariff Act introduced in 2012 and the issues that have emerged during its implementation. An economic analysis was conducted to assess the impact of FIT fixed price changes on the profitability of solar PV plants, with sensitivity analysis based on scenarios of future FIT fixed purchase price reductions and PV initial investment cost reductions. The results indicate the potential for FIT reduction on the residential side and the current feasibility limits of non-residential PV investments under the current FIT scheme.
