A Feasible Strategy of Fabricating Type I Photosensitizer for Photodynamic Therapy in Cancer Cells and Pathogens

Kongqi Chen et al.

Summary: A double ionic-type aggregation-induced emission luminogen TIdBO was developed as a photosensitizer, which had a positive effect on the generation of Type I reactive oxygen species in aggregates through an electron-transfer process, achieving significant photodynamic therapy performance. Additionally, it showed a good killing ability to microbes by regulating the incubation time, while not affecting cells.
