A comparative study on the effect of quantitative feed restriction in males and females of broiler chickens, rabbits and nutrias. I. Performance and carcass composition

Eva Tumova et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to compare the effects of feed restriction on the growth performance and carcass composition of male and female chicken, rabbit, and nutria. The results showed that feed restriction had stronger effects on broiler chickens compared to rabbits and nutrias. The effect of feed restriction on carcass composition was negligible in all selected species. Significant differences were observed in different parameters between males and females in each species.

Breast meat quality in males and females of fast-, medium- and slow-growing chickens fed diets of 2 protein levels

D. Chodova et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the effects of genotype, sex, and dietary protein level on carcass characteristics and meat quality of different chicken breeds. Different genotypes showed significant differences in abdominal fat percentage, meat composition, and breast skin color. The low-protein diet affected meat quality parameters in all genotypes, indicating genotype had a greater impact on meat quality than sex or dietary protein level.

The response of fast-, medium- and slow-growing chickens to a low protein diet

Darina Chodova et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the effects of low-protein diet on different chicken genotypes with varying growth rates, finding that fast-growing chickens were more affected in terms of growth performance, while slow-growing chickens showed better performance under the LP diet. Genotypes had significant impacts on carcass characteristics and meat quality.

The effect of feed restriction, sex and age on the carcass composition and meat quality of nutrias (Myocastor coypus)

Eva Tumova et al.

Summary: The study found that gender, age, and feed restriction have significant effects on nutria's muscle fiber cross-sectional area. Age is the main factor affecting carcass composition and meat quality characteristics. Additionally, gender and feed restriction can also impact carcass composition and sensory attributes.

Research Note: The effects of genotype, sex, and feeding regime on performance, carcasses characteristic, and microbiota in chickens

E. Tumova et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the effects of quantitative feed restriction on fast-, medium-, and slow-growing meat-type chickens in terms of growth, feed consumption, economic efficiency, carcass composition, and gastrointestinal microbiota. Results indicate significant impacts of genotype, sex, and feeding regime on the experimental outcomes.

Effect of housing system and feed restriction on meat quality of medium-growing chickens

M. Englmaierova et al.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the differences in meat quality of 420 Hubbard JA757 cockerels in relation to housing system and level of mixed feed. Chickens housed in mobile boxes on pasture showed lower cooking loss, higher redness and yellowness values in the skin and meat. Feed restriction increased muscle fiber number but decreased their cross-sectional area and diameter.
