Evaluation of green light exposure on headache frequency and quality of life in migraine patients: A preliminary one-way cross-over clinical trial

Summary: Green light emitting diodes significantly reduced the number of headache days in patients with episodic or chronic migraine, and also improved multiple secondary outcome measures including quality of life and intensity and duration of headache attacks. No adverse events were reported, suggesting green light emitting diodes may offer a non-pharmacological treatment option for migraine patients.

Further studies are needed to confirm the long-term pain relief potential of fMRI-based rTMS over the left motor cortex in chronic migraine patients.

Adopting these recommendations will improve the quality of evidence regarding the use of neuromodulation devices in migraine treatment.
