Structural and Magnetical Studies of Mixed-Valence Hexavanadate Hybrids: How Organic Ligands Affect the Magnetism of Polyoxometalates?

Pingfan Wu et al.

Summary: This study illustrates the influence of organic ligands on magnetic structure and behavior using a mixed-valence Lindqvist-type hexavanadate as a research platform. The introduction of organic ligands can modify the crystal packing manners of the derivatives, leading to changes in the interaction between magnetic units. The work demonstrates that organic functionalization can significantly affect the magnetism of polyoxometalates by adjusting the distance and location of the magnetic fractions.

Cu/Ag Complex Modified Keggin-Type Coordination Polymers for Improved Electrochemical Capacitance, Dual-Function Electrocatalysis, and Sensing Performance

Xingzhi Liu et al.

Summary: The introduction of different metal-organic units into the {PMo12} polyoxometalate system resulted in three porous coordination polymers with enhanced capacitance performance, cyclic stability, and conductivity when compared to traditional POM electrode materials. This enhancement is attributed to the additional redox centers, stable porous structures, and improved ion/electron transfer efficiency provided by the metal-organic units. Additionally, the compounds exhibit excellent electrocatalytic activity and compound 2 shows outstanding sensing performance in detecting AA and H2O2.

Two new polyoxometalate-based metal-organic complexes for the detection of trace Cr(VI) and their capacitor performance

Qian-Qian Liu et al.

Summary: Two new Keggin-type polyoxometalate-based metal-organic complexes were synthesized using a hydrothermal/solvothermal method, with one forming a 2D layered structure and the other forming a 3D supramolecular framework. The carbon paste electrodes modified by these complexes can be used as electrochemical sensors to detect trace Cr(VI) with detection limits lower than the maximum allowable concentration specified by the World Health Organization for drinking water.

Qingbo Shen et al.

Summary: In this study, two new POM-based materials were developed for photocatalytic H-2 evolution, with compound 1 showing significantly higher efficiency compared to compound 2 and bare GeW12 polyanions. The improved performance of compound 1 is attributed to the formation of stable heteropoly blue species, differences in reduction potentials, and good dispersion of GeW12 polyanions.
