Band gap engineering in blended organic semiconductor films based on dielectric interactions

Katrin Ortstein et al.

Summary: Blending organic molecules with different energy levels can adjust the energy gap of organic semiconductors, as shown in the example of different oligothiophenes. Photoelectron spectroscopy and theoretical analysis reveal that the single-particle gap can be finely tuned by controlling the blend ratio. Further research will explore the practical implications of this energy-level engineering strategy for optoelectronic devices.
