Self-activated 'green' carbon nanoparticles for symmetric solid-state supercapacitors

Activated carbon nanoparticles synthesized at 900 degrees Celsius exhibit a maximum surface area of around 360 m(2) g(-1) with an average pore size of about 2 nm. By using different electrolytes and fabricating two symmetric supercapacitors, aqueous (1 M KOH) and solid-state (PVA/KOH), it is found that the latter performs better with a wider voltage window and superior energy density.
