Angiogenin (ANG)-Ribonuclease Inhibitor (RNH1) System in Protein Synthesis and Disease

Mayuresh Anant Sarangdhar et al.

Summary: Protein synthesis is a complex process involving ribosomes, tRNAs, mRNAs, and accessory factors like the ANG-RNH1 system. ANG-RNH1 system plays a crucial role in translation regulation, with ANG promoting rRNA transcription in the nucleus and inhibiting ribosome biogenesis in the cytosol under stress, while RNH1 interacts with ANG to control translation by unknown mechanisms.

SLFN2 protection of tRNAs from stress-induced cleavage is essential for T cell-mediated immunity

Tao Yue et al.

Summary: ROS in activated T cells triggers an oxidative stress response leading to translation repression, which is countered by SLFN2 binding tRNAs. SLFN2 deficiency results in tRNA fragment accumulation, inhibiting translation and promoting stress-granule formation.

Human ribonuclease 1 serves as a secretory ligand of ephrin A4 receptor and induces breast tumor initiation

Heng-Huan Lee et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that human ribonuclease 1 (hRNase 1) can independently of its ribonucleolytic activity, promoting breast tumor initiation by activating the EphA4 receptor signal and showing a positive correlation with EphA4 activation and the stem cell marker CD133 in tumor tissue. High levels of hRNase 1 in plasma samples are associated with EphA4 activation in breast cancer patients' tumor tissues, suggesting the pathological relevance of the hRNase 1-EphA4 axis in breast cancer.
