The attentional template in high and low similarity search: Optimal tuning or tuning to relations?

Zachary Hamblin-Frohman et al.

Summary: The study explores how attentional template guides visual search and attention selection. It finds that the attentional template is not a veridical representation, but an altered one, with different theories providing different explanations. Experimental results suggest that early attention follows the Relational Account, selecting items with relative target colors.
