Atopic skin diathesis rather than atopic dermatitis is associated with specific contact allergies

Susann Forkel et al.

Summary: Through a retrospective multi-center data analysis, it was found that patients with atopic skin diathesis had a significantly higher rate of positive patch test reactions to multiple allergens compared to those without atopic skin diathesis. Atopic skin diathesis was identified as the most important intrinsic risk factor for contact sensitization to a few specific allergens.

Jonathan I. Silverberg et al.

Summary: The association between AD and ACD is controversial, with this study analyzing the prevalence, reaction strength, and trends of the most common and relevant allergens in AD patients. Most patients with a history of AD were diagnosed with ACD, and adults with AD history had a higher number of positive patch test reactions.
