Influence of alkali activator type and proportion on strength performance of calcined clay geopolymer mortar

A. S. Bature et al.

Summary: This paper investigated the compressive strength and microstructure of iron-rich, calcined clay based geopolymer mortars activated by two forms of sodium silicate solutions. The strength of mortars activated in a pressure reactor vessel was significantly higher than those activated under normal atmospheric conditions.

Phosphoric acid activation of volcanic ashes: Influence of the molar ratio R = (MgO

B. I. Djon Li Ndjock et al.

Summary: This study investigates the reactivity of volcanic ashes with different chemical compositions in phosphoric acid, and how the CaO and MgO content in the volcanic ash and the acid concentration influence the final properties of acid-activated cements. The results suggest that volcanic ashes can be considered precursors in the production of phosphoric acid-activated cements for construction purposes.

Preparation of high-performance silico-aluminophosphate geopolymers using fly ash and metakaolin as raw materials

Haozhe Guo et al.

Summary: This study synthesized SAP geopolymers using FA and found that increasing FA content shortened setting time but decreased compressive strength. High FA proportion led to lack of active aluminum, formation of ACP, and ultimately decreased compressive strength.

Influence of alumina on the compressive strengths and microstructural properties of the acid-based geopolymers from calcined indurated laterite and metakaolin

Summary: The research aims to investigate the influence of alumina on the compressive strengths and microstructural properties of acid-based geopolymers. Alumina incorporation has been found to increase the compressive strengths significantly, indicating its potential for enhancing the mechanical performance of acid-based geopolymers.

Mechanical and microscopic properties of fly ash phosphoric acid-based geopolymer paste: A comprehensive study

Shaoyun Pu et al.

Summary: The study found that a combination of 50% phosphoric acid and a liquid-solid mass ratio (L/S) of 0.3 yielded the maximum compressive strength during the 0-90 day curing period. As curing time increased, the strength increased for FAPG with 50% phosphoric acid, but increased at first and then scarcely increased for other FAPG pastes. The compressive strength decreased with L/S increasing.
