Characterization of the influence of Nanoparticles on Early Hydration of Oil Cement by Using Low Field NMR

Qian Feng et al.

Summary: By introducing nano-SiO2 and Al2O3 into the cement slurry system and using low-field NMR, it was found that nano-SiO2 can accelerate cement hydration, while nano-Al2O3 can retard it. The influence of nanoparticles mainly focuses on the initial hydration stage of cement, with very little impact on the strength of cement stone in the later hydration stage.

PORE STRUCTURAL AND FRACTAL ANALYSIS OF THE INFLUENCE OF FLY ASH AND SILICA FUME ON THE MECHANICAL PROPERTY AND ABRASION RESISTANCE OF CONCRETE

Lei Wang et al.

Summary: The addition of silica fume and fly ash can improve the mechanical properties and abrasion resistance of concrete, while reducing the risks of drying shrinkage and cracking. Concrete mixtures with 5wt.% silica fume and 20wt.% fly ash show increased abrasion resistance and mechanical properties at various ages. Both fly ash and silica fume can decrease concrete porosity and increase the pore surface fractal dimensions (Ds), resulting in desired mechanical properties and abrasion resistance.

Hydration, shrinkage, pore structure and fractal dimension of silica fume modified low heat Portland cement-based materials

Lei Wang et al.

Summary: The addition of silica fume accelerates hydration of low heat Portland cement and consumes Ca(OH)(2), leading to excellent performance in concrete with 8% silica fume. Fractal dimension (D-s) can be used as a new parameter to evaluate the shrinkage behavior of concrete.
