The role of nano-CaCO3in the mechanical performance of polyvinyl alcohol fibre-reinforced geopolymer composites

Hasan Assaedi

Summary: The study showed that incorporating up to 2.0 wt% nano-CaCO(3)particles can enhance the performance of PVA-geopolymer composites by improving their compressive strength and flexural load-deflection. The synergistic effect of nano-CaCO(3)and well-dispersed PVA fibers in the matrix results in composites with superior mechanical properties.

Improvement in Fresh, Mechanical and Microstructural Properties of Fly Ash- Blast Furnace Slag Based Geopolymer Concrete By Addition of Nano and Micro Silica

Syed Mohammed Mustakim et al.

Summary: The study indicates that nano-silica (NS) and silica fume (SF) contribute to the improvement of compressive strength of geopolymer concrete by facilitating a higher degree of geopolymerization. Analytical methods such as X-ray diffraction, X-ray fluorescence, and electron microscopy are effective in studying the properties of concrete samples.

Performance evaluation of basalt fiber-reinforced geopolymer composites with various contents of nano CaCO3

Thamer Alomayri

Summary: The study investigated the mechanical performance of basalt fiber-reinforced fly ash-based geopolymer pastes with varying contents of nano CaCO3. Results showed that 3% nano CaCO3 improved compressive strength and hardness, while 2% nano CaCO3 enhanced flexural strength, impact strength, and fracture toughness of the composite paste. SEM analysis indicated that nano CaCO3 addition improved microstructure and densification of geopolymer paste.

Mechanical and fracture properties of geopolymer concrete with basalt fiber using digital image correlation

Yamin Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the mechanical and fracture properties of basalt fiber reinforced fly ash geopolymer concrete with different fiber lengths, and found that the 6 mm fiber reinforced concrete exhibited the best performance. Before reaching the 80% peak load level, a decrease in crack length and an improvement in relative COD increment were observed in the basalt fiber reinforced concrete.

Understanding the effect of nano/micro-structures on anti-impact of nano-boron nitride filled cementitious composites

Jialiang Wang et al.

Summary: The addition of nano-BN can fundamentally modify the micro-and even nano-structures of cementitious composites, improving their anti-impact property and dynamic mechanical behavior. By refining the pore structure of the composite matrix and enhancing the micromechanical properties of hydration products, nano-BN enhances the energy absorption capacity of the composites at the macro level. Additionally, nano-BN inhibits the damage of cementitious composites, with its inhibition form changing with the strain rate.

Enhancement of mechanical properties of fly ash geopolymer containing fine recycled concrete aggregate with micro carbon fiber

Peem Nuaklong et al.

Summary: This study used micro carbon fiber (CF) to enhance the mechanical properties of fly ash geopolymer containing fine recycled concrete aggregate (RCA). The results showed that CF improved the compressive and splitting tensile strengths of geopolymer mortar, with best results obtained at 0.2% CF in mixtures containing 100% RCA. Additionally, the flexural strength and surface abrasion resistance were significantly improved with the use of 50% RCA. Incorporating CF allows for increased use of recycled fine aggregate without the need for natural fine aggregate.
