Preparation of semi-aliphatic polyimide for organic-solvent-free sizing agent in CF/PEEK composites

Summary: A semi-aliphatic polyimide (SA-PI) was synthesized and used as a sizing agent for carbon fiber. The sized carbon fiber surface was covered with a coating, increasing its surface energy. Tensile strength, ILSS, and flexural strength were improved after applying the sizing agent.

Effect of root-like mechanical-interlocking interface in polypropylene/aramid fiber composites from experimental to numerical study

Summary: This study introduces a new strategy to enhance the interfacial interaction in polypropylene/aramid fiber composite by constructing a mechanically-interlocking interface through the diffusion and epitaxial growth of self-assembling compounds on the surface of the reinforcing fiber. The mechanically-interlocking effect significantly increased the interfacial shear strength and impact strength of the composite, paving the way for the production of high-performance filler-reinforced composites.
