Conjugation- and Aggregation-Directed Design of Covalent Organic Frameworks as White-Light-Emitting Diodes

Sizhuo Yang et al.

Summary: 2D covalent organic frameworks (COFs) have emerged as a promising class of organic luminescent materials due to their structural diversity. This study reports two highly emissive sp(2)-C-COFs and explores the correlation between structure and light absorption/emission, charge transfer (CT), and exciton dynamics. The research shows that the planarity, conjugation, orientation of the dipole moment, and interlayer aggregation play important roles in determining the light-harvesting ability and photoluminescent quantum yield of COFs.

Porphyrin-Based Covalent Organic Framework Thin Films as Cathodic Materials for On-Off-On Photoelectrochemical Sensing of Lead Ions

Chuanrui Zhao et al.

Summary: Cathodic photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensors are urgently required for ultrasensitive environmental monitoring, and porphyrin-based covalent organic framework (TAPP-COF) thin films were fabricated and applied in this study. By utilizing CdSe@SiO2 quantum dots as a quenching agent and introducing target Pb2+, accurate monitoring with a wide detection range and low detection limit was achieved through an on-off-on PEC approach. This methodology provides an efficient platform for ultrasensitive determination of heavy metal ions, contributing significantly to environmental monitoring and public safety.

Structural and Morphological Engineering of Benzothiadiazole-Based Covalent Organic Frameworks for Visible Light-Driven Oxidative Coupling of Amines

Qing Li et al.

Summary: Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are attractive platforms for photocatalysts due to their structural diversity and adjustable optical band gaps. Efficient COFs for heterogeneous photocatalysis of organic transformations are highly desired. Tuning the structure and morphology of COFs greatly impacts photoelectric properties, with COFs featuring ordered alignment and perfect crystalline nature being more beneficial for promoting charge transfer and separation.
