Rapid and efficient removal of diclofenac sodium from aqueous solution via ternary core-shell CS@PANI@LDH composite: Experimental and adsorption mechanism study

Haihua Xu et al.

Summary: The synthesis of ternary core-shell CS@PANI@LDH composite provided an effective adsorbent for the removal of Diclofenac sodium, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 618.16 mg/g. The composite retained high adsorption capacity even after multiple regeneration cycles. The adsorption mechanism was explained by various interactions, including electrostatic interaction, hydrogen bonding, and 7C-7C interaction.

Exploration of adsorption mechanism of 2-phosphonobutane-1,2,4-tricarboxylic acid onto kaolinite and montmorillonite via batch experiment and theoretical studies

Sidi Zhu et al.

Summary: By conducting batch control experiments and theoretical studies, it was found that clay minerals with different crystal structures, kaolinite and montmorillonite, have different adsorption characteristics towards 2-phosphonobutane-1,2,4-tricarboxylic acid (PBTC). Molecular dynamic simulations and density functional theory analyses provided consistent results, enhancing our understanding of the adsorption mechanisms at the interface of different clay minerals.

Simultaneous removal of toxic Pb(II) ions, poly(acrylic acid) and Triton X-100 from their mixed solution using engineered biochars obtained from horsetail herb precursor-Impact of post-activation treatment

Malgorzata Wisniewska et al.

Summary: The horsetail herb was used as precursor for biochar production, and post-activation treatments with different washing procedures were applied. The HBA_HCl sample showed the highest adsorption of Pb(II) and PAA, while NaOH solution was more effective for PAA desorption and HNO3 for Pb(II) desorption.

Comparison of lead(II) ions accumulation and bioavailability on the montmorillonite and kaolinite surfaces in the presence of polyacrylamide soil flocculant

Gracja Fijalkowska et al.

Summary: Heavy metals such as lead(II) can remain in soil for a long time and their toxicity to living organisms can be reduced by immobilization with organic, mineral or polymeric substances. The presence of anionic polyacrylamide and the internal structure of aluminosilicate were found to affect the adsorption efficiency of lead(II) ions.

Summary: The research indicated that pure zeolite has the largest adsorption capacity for lead(II) ions and can be efficiently regenerated. Mixed adsorbates have minimal impact on singly adsorbed ions, but significantly decrease the adsorption of other ions.
