One-step production of polyelectrolyte nanoparticles

Madeline Vauthier et al.

Summary: Neutral polymeric nanoparticles have been widely used in drug delivery, biosensing, and environmental research, but charged polymeric nanoparticles have faced challenges in production. By exploring different processes, researchers found that elongational-flow micromixing (mu RMX) was the most effective method for producing highly monodispersed polyelectrolyte nanoparticles (PNPs). Additionally, they observed a unique behavior of PNP size increasing after a certain emulsification time when using mu RMX.
