Effect of pH on the Structure and Dynamics of Wormlike Micelles in an Amino Acid-Derived Surfactant Composition

Trang Vu et al.

Summary: The study revealed that pH as a thickening mechanism affects the structure and dynamics of wormlike micelles, with a minimum ratio of reptation time to breakage time observed at pH 4.8, corresponding to a sharp increase and decrease in viscosity. The low breakage times in the system were attributed to high and pH-sensitive breakage rate constants.
