Highly selective and stable nickel catalysts supported on ceria promoted with Sm2O3, Pr2O3 and MgO for the CO2 methanation reaction

G. Siakavelas et al.

Summary: This study investigated the catalytic performance of Ni catalysts supported on different CeO2-based oxides for the methanation of CO2. It was found that the addition of Sm3+ or Pr3+ generated oxygen vacancies on the catalyst surface, improving the catalytic activity, while the addition of Mg2+ reinforced the resistance against sintering of Ni/Mg-Ce catalyst.

Tailoring the morphology and crystal facet of Mn3O4 for highly efficient catalytic combustion of ethanol

Yutao Dai et al.

Summary: Three nanoscale Mn3O4 catalysts with different morphologies were prepared and evaluated for ethanol combustion. The hexagonal nanoplates catalyst showed enhanced performance due to the (112) crystal facet with high surface energy, facilitating adsorption/activation of ethanol and oxygen. This study suggests that crystal facet engineering can be used to develop high performance, low cost, environmentally friendly manganese oxides catalysts.

Decoupling the size and support/metal loadings effect of Ni/SiO2 catalysts for CO2 methanation

Kang Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of nickel particle size on CO2 methanation and demonstrates that small nickel nanoparticles supported on SiO2 can significantly enhance catalytic performance. In situ DRIFTS results suggest that small Ni particles favor the formation of key intermediates and thus promote the CO2 methanation reaction. These findings provide valuable insights for designing effective CO2 methanation catalysts by tuning the size of Ni nanoparticles.

Remarkably efficient and stable Ni/Y2O3 catalysts for CO2 methanation: Effect of citric acid addition

Yingying Li et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that the addition of citric acid affects the size of nickel nanoparticles and the interaction of metal and support, hence influencing the catalytic performance. The interfacial structure of Y-O-Ni formed at high citric acid addition is crucial for methane formation on Ni/Y2O3 catalysts.

Highly selective and stable Ni/La-M (M=Sm, Pr, and Mg)-CeO2 catalysts for CO2 methanation

G. Siakavelas et al.

Summary: In this study, nickel catalysts supported on various metal oxides were prepared and characterized for their catalytic performance in CO2 methanation reaction. The results showed that doping of specific metal oxides can increase the oxygen vacancy and moderate basic site density of the catalysts, leading to enhanced CO2 methanation reaction rates. Additionally, the addition of La3+ was found to stabilize the Ni active sites and improve catalytic properties, particularly in terms of CO2 conversion and CH4 yield.
