Application of advanced materials in sonophotocatalytic processes for the remediation of environmental pollutants

Jayaraman Theerthagiri et al.

Summary: Significant industrial advancements have led to the release of toxic pollutants into the environment, necessitating efficient wastewater treatment processes to reduce contamination. Photocatalytic degradation is considered effective, but has limitations. Combining sonolysis with photocatalysis shows benefits for environmental remediation by utilizing more active radicals to degrade organic pollutants.

Preparation and study of nonlinear response of embedding ZnO nanoparticles in PVA thin film by pulsed laser ablation

Ayman M. Mostafa

Summary: In this study, ZnO/PVA nanocomposite was synthesized using pulsed laser ablation method, with varying concentrations of ZnO nanostructures achieved by changing the laser ablation time. The prepared sample exhibited nanoparticles with a size range of 10-20 nm, hexagonal ZnO structure, and showed shifting optical properties with increasing ZnO concentration. The investigation also revealed enhanced nonlinear refractive index (n(2)) and nonlinear absorption coefficient (beta) with increasing laser ablation time.

Effect of liquid media and laser energy on the preparation of Ag nanoparticles and their nanocomposites with Au nanoparticles via laser ablation for optoelectronic applications

Abeer S. Altowyan et al.

Summary: Nanostructured materials from Ag and Au@Ag core/shell bimetallic were synthesized using a one-pot pulsed infrared laser ablation process in different liquid media. By adjusting the metallic precursor solution and laser energy, monometallic nanoparticles were transformed into bimetallic nanocomposites in a core/shell structure with tunable shell thickness. Various spectroscopic techniques were employed to characterize the prepared materials and reveal their physicochemical properties.

Preparation, characterization, and nonlinear optical properties of graphene oxide thin film doped with low chirality metallic SWCNTs

Asmaa M. Abozied et al.

Summary: The non-linear optical properties of graphene oxide (GO) doped with low chirality metallic single-walled carbon nanotubes (m-SWCNTs) thin films were studied, showing reverse saturable absorption characteristics. The nonlinearity response of the films increased with the percentage of m-SWCNTs, making them ideal candidates for near-infrared laser protection applications.
