Determinants of Blood Pressure in Neonates and Infants Predictable Variability

Janis M. Dionne

Summary: The blood pressure of neonates, especially premature infants, changes rapidly during the first days and weeks of life due to various factors including maternal, perinatal, and infant factors. The strongest determinants of neonatal blood pressure are gestational age, birth weight, and postmenstrual age. Understanding these influencing factors and accurately measuring blood pressure are crucial in diagnosing abnormalities but are also complex in the neonatal population.

Long-term Risk of Hypertension After Surgical Repair of Congenital Heart Disease in Children

Jason H. Greenberg et al.

Summary: The study found that the incidence of long-term hypertension in children with surgical repair of CHD was 12 times higher compared to children in the matched control group. The findings suggest interventions are needed to reduce the long-term risk of hypertension after cardiac surgery in this population.
