Involvement of patients with chronic kidney disease in research: A case study

Jeanette Finderup et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the process and outcomes of patient involvement in a specific chronic kidney disease research project. Patients with chronic kidney disease were found to be involved in all six phases of the research process, with varying levels of participation in different phases. Important facilitators of patient involvement in chronic kidney disease research include teamwork, being part of the process, and being prepared for the work, while important barriers include patient vulnerability and uremic symptoms.
