Electric field induced magnetism decline in organic ferromagnets

Yuanyuan Miao et al.

Summary: In this study, the influence of external electric field on the electric and magnetic properties of quasi-one-dimensional organic ferromagnets was theoretically investigated using an Anderson-like model. The results showed a decline in magnetism of the organic ferromagnet under the external field, attributed to the continuous decrease of total molecular spin and suppression of spin density wave. The analysis of energy band evolution indicated that the crossover of spin-split flat bands under the field was responsible for the observed magnetism decline. Additionally, charge polarization and transfer between spin radicals and main chain in the organic ferromagnets were observed.

Length-induced large magnetoresistance in polyacene molecular spin valves

Jiansheng Qi et al.

Summary: Using first-principles method, an unusual length effect in polyacene molecular spin valves is revealed, where the tunneling magnetoresistance is significantly enhanced beyond a critical length. Theoretical analysis shows that this increase is related to the nonmagnetic-antiferromagnetic phase transition of polyacene molecules, with the molecular gap showing distinct length dependence and changing with the molecular magnetic state.
