Enhanced coalescence separation of oil-in-water emulsions using electrospun PVDF nanofibers

Yujie Yang et al.

Summary: A novel and high-efficiency coalescence membrane enhanced by nano-sized PVDF nanofibers on PET substrate was fabricated using electrospinning method. The membrane exhibited superoleophilicity in air and poor oleophilicity under water, showing promising results for large-scale oil wastewater treatment. The coalescence unit with four membrane layers had excellent performances with separation efficiency remaining above 98.2% under different conditions.

Interfacial characteristics in membrane filtration for oil-in-water treatment processes

Xiaolei Zhang et al.

Summary: The study found that in membrane filtration, the internal factor affecting the penetration of carbohydrate oil droplets is surface wettability, while the external factors are trans-membrane pressure and cross flow rate. Under different water flow conditions, the motion and deformation of oil droplets have different patterns, affecting the form of pollution.
