Triptycene based and nitrogen rich hyper cross linked polymers (TNHCPs) as efficient CO2 and iodine adsorbent

Atikur Hassan et al.

Summary: Triptycene based nitrogen-rich hyper crosslinked polymers (TNHCPs) are emerging as efficient materials for capturing small gas molecules and adsorbing radioactive iodine. These materials have contorted and rigid polymeric frameworks with plenty of micropores and ultramicropores, increasing their efficiency for selective capture of carbon dioxide and iodine vapours. Furthermore, TNHCPs show better performance in these aspects compared to previously reported porous organic polymers and hyper crosslinked polymers.

Tailoring the Microporosity of Polymers of Intrinsic Microporosity for Advanced Gas Separation by Atomic Layer Deposition

Xiuling Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, the microporosity of a typical intrinsically microporous polymer (PIM-1) was modified at the atomic level using Al2O3 atomic layer deposition (ALD) technique for the first time. The resulting PIM-1 with six ALD cycles (PIM-1-Al2O3-6) exhibited superior thermal, mechanical, gas separation, and anti-aging properties. The enhanced performance was attributed to the strong size sieving effect induced by the Al2O3 deposition.

Summary: Tailoring selective gas uptake properties of porous organic polymers is crucial for gas separation and storage. In this study, three microporous networks with different linkers were synthesized and characterized, showing that the gas uptake properties and selectivity of the polymers can be controlled by the choice of linker. The obtained polymers exhibit high BET specific surface area, ultramicroporous character, thermal and chemical stability, and high gas uptake properties and selectivity.

Enhancement of Hydrothermal Stability and CO2 Adsorption of Mg-MOF-74/MCF Composites

Chunling Xin et al.

Summary: The hierarchical porous composite Mg-MOF-74/MCFs were successfully synthesized with a simple and facile method under in situ solvothermal conditions. The composites exhibit improved CO2 adsorption performance, especially after hydrothermal treatment, showing enhanced total CO2 adsorption capacity. The results suggest that the composites have potential applications in CO2 capture and storage due to their enhanced stability and adsorption properties compared to pristine Mg-MOF-74.

One-step synthesis of N-containing hyper-cross-linked polymers by two crosslinking strategies and their CO2 adsorption and iodine vapor capture

Lishu Shao et al.

Summary: A series of N-containing hyper-cross-linked polymers were synthesized from different monomers via one-step crosslinking reactions, exhibiting varying porosity, N content, morphology, and hydrophobicity. HCP1 and HCP3 showed good CO2 uptake, while HCP4 and HCP6 demonstrated higher I2 vapor uptake. The results suggest that porosity, especially microporosity, plays a key role in CO2 capture, while chemical structure is more important for I2 vapor adsorption.
