Colorimetric method for Salmonella spp. detection based on peroxidase-like activity of Cu(II)-rGO nanoparticles and PCR

Lijun Wang et al.

Summary: A colorimetric method based on Cu2+-rGO NPs was developed for highly sensitive and specific detection of Salmonella spp. in milk, with a detection limit of 0.51 CFU/mL. The method displayed the ability to distinguish specific Salmonella strains from other pathogens and showed promising results in milk sample detection with high recovery rates. The colorimetric sensor holds potential for sensitive bacteria detection in milk samples.

Rapid identification of pathogens by using surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy and multi-scale convolutional neural network

Jingyu Ding et al.

Summary: Salmonella is a prevalent pathogen worldwide, causing serious morbidity and mortality. The most common foodborne pathogenic serovars in the EU and China are reported to be Salmonella Enteritidis, Salmonella Typhimurium, and Salmonella Paratyphi. A new analytical method combining surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy with multi-scale convolutional neural network was developed to efficiently detect and distinguish these serovars, achieving a recognition accuracy of over 97%. The findings suggest the feasibility of combining SERS spectroscopy with multi-scale CNN not only for Salmonella serotype identification, but also for other pathogen species and serovar identifications.
