Understanding how pore surface fluorination influences light hydrocarbon separation in metal-organic frameworks

Xue-Qian Wu et al.

Summary: This study established a contrastive model by structurally modifying Cu(II)-MOFs constructed from isonicotinic acid and its fluorinated analogue, aiming to control pore surface fluorination for light hydrocarbon separation. The fluorinated MOFs showed enhanced selectivity without increasing regeneration energy consumption, highlighting the influence of pore surface fluorination on light hydrocarbon adsorption/separation properties and promoting the rational design of new adsorbents at the atom level.

Two comparable Ba-MOFs with similar linkers for enhanced CO2 capture and separation by introducing N-rich groups

Ying Zhao et al.

Summary: Two new metal-organic frameworks (MOF 1 and MOF 2) with different structures were synthesized by assembling Ba(II) ions and two similar linkers. MOF 2 exhibited a higher density of active sites and Lewis acid sites, leading to a greater CO2 capture and separation capacity at 298 K compared to MOF 1.

Metal-Organic Frameworks Featuring 18-Connected Nonanuclear Rare-Earth Oxygen Clusters and Cavities for Efficient C2H2/CO2 Separation

Ling Chen et al.

Summary: The rare-earth metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) JXNU-10, constructed from a triangular ligand, exhibit unique structures and excellent C2H2/CO2 separation performance achieved through stable coordination bonds between high-nuclear RE-oxo clusters and hard bases, providing water resistance. JXNU-10 demonstrates selective sorption of C2H2 over CO2 due to specific binding sites for C2H2 molecules, resulting in outstanding separation efficiency in breakthrough experiments.

A Dy6-cluster-based fcu-MOF with efficient separation of C2H2/C2H4 and selective adsorption of benzene

Yong-Zhi Li et al.

Summary: A Dy-MOF with a high-symmetry fcu topology has been synthesized in this study, showing high storage capacity for C2H2 and C2H4, as well as remarkable separation efficiency for C2H2-CH4, C2H4-CH4, and C2H2-C2H4 mixtures. The MOF also exhibits significant selective adsorption ability for benzene/toluene and benzene/cyclohexane, as confirmed by molecular simulations.
