Harvesting triplet excitons for near-infrared electroluminescence via thermally activated delayed fluorescence channel

You-Jun Yu et al.

Summary: Near-infrared (NIR) emission is widely used in communication, biomedical sensors, and night vision, while organic thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters have attracted attention for their efficient utilization of excitons. However, the development of NIR TADF emitters lags behind RGB TADF emitters in terms of performance improvement.

High Performance NIR OLEDs with Low Efficiency Roll-Off by Leveraging Os(II) Phosphors and Exciplex Co-Host

Ze-Lin Zhu et al.

Summary: This study introduces three novel Os(II) complexes with short radiative decay lifetimes and high photoluminescence quantum yields. By using an exciplex-forming co-host, the efficiency roll-off of NIR OLEDs is greatly reduced, leading to improved external quantum efficiency and maximum radiance in devices based on these complexes, Isq-2 and Isq-3, achieving over 170 W sr(-1) m(-2).

Efficient Solution-Processed Hyperfluorescent OLEDs with Spectrally Narrow Emission at 840 nm

Afshin Shahalizad et al.

Summary: Efficient organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) are crucial for cost reduction and environmental sustainability. This study demonstrates the use of a thermally activated delayed fluorescent (TADF) material as an assistant dopant to achieve pure NIR-emitting fluorescent OLEDs with an external quantum efficiency of up to 3.8%, showing more than three times higher efficiency than previously reported products in this spectral range.
