A cobalt complex ligated with a PAlP pincer ligand was synthesized and the Lewis acidity of the aluminum atom on the cobalt complex was confirmed by coordination with 4-dimethylaminopyridine (DMAP). Reactions of the cobalt complex with H2O, EtOH, i-PrOH, and t-BuOH efficiently yielded the corresponding cobalt hydride complexes.
