The role of immersion solvents on light harvesting efficiency and photoinduced electron injection in porphyrin/TiO2 interfaces was investigated. The choice of t-BuOH:ACN solvent was found to result in long-lived electrons in H2MP/TiO2 devices.
In this work, the role of immersion solvents on light harvesting efficiency, photoinduced electron injection and photovoltaic properties of porphyrin/TiO2 have been investigated. Time resolved fluorescence technique was used to characterize the kinetics of electron injection at the porphyrin/TiO2 interface. The results show that electron injection from photoexcited porphyrin to the conduction band of TiO2 is highly sensitive to the nature of the solvent used during self-assembly of the TiO2-porphyrin interface. Based on the findings, the t-BuOH:ACN solvent is suitable for achieving long lived electrons in a H2MP/TiO2 device.
