In this article, the preparation of N-doped porous carbon from lab used filter paper was presented. The effects of KHCO3 activation on the physicochemical properties of the carbon materials were thoroughly investigated. The derived carbon materials exhibited high CO2 uptake at low temperature and high pressure conditions.
Herein, we presented the preparation of N-doped porous carbon from lab used filter paper. Filter paper was first carbonized at 500 degrees C. The obtained carbon was then pyrolyzed with KHCO3 and urea. Effects of KHCO3 activation on the carbons' physicochemical properties were thoroughly investigated. The derived carbon materials were also tested for CO2 adsorption with pressure up to 20 bar. The carbons exhibited very high CO2 uptake of 19.65 mmol/g at 0 degrees C and 20 bar. The correlations between adsorption performances and the carbons' physicochemical properties at 1/20 bar were analyzed and discussed.
