Xiaoqian Xie et al.

Summary: This study prepared oxygen-deficient Bi2WO6 microspheres and deposited Bi-0 nanoparticles on the surface, enhancing photocatalytic activity. Bi-0@Bi2WO6-x exhibited the best NO removal activity under visible light irradiation. The presence of Bi-0 nanoparticles promoted photogenerated charge separation and transfer, while OVs defects facilitated reactants activation and active substance formation.

In situ loading of MoO3 clusters on ultrathin Bi2MoO6 nanosheets for synergistically enhanced photocatalytic NO abatement

Hao Ma et al.

Summary: This study synthesized ultrathin Bi2MoO6 nanosheets modified by MoO3 clusters through a surfactant-assisted one step hydrothermal process, showing highly efficient photocatalytic performance for NO removal under relative humidity from 25% to 100% due to the synergistic strategy of ultrathin structure and clusters. The surface clusters create a new electron migration pathway, greatly enhancing the interfacial charge transfer efficiency.

Advances in designing heterojunction photocatalytic materials

Zongpeng Wang et al.

Summary: In the context of increasing energy crisis and global warming, semiconductor-based photocatalysis has attracted significant attention for its potential applications in green energy production, CO2 reduction, and pollutant degradation. However, the photocatalytic activity of semiconductors is limited by issues such as fast recombination of electron-hole pairs, restricted electron mobility, limited optical absorption, and insufficient active sites. Designing appropriate heterojunctions has been proven as a promising method to address these issues and enhance photocatalytic performance. This review systematically presents the working mechanism of various heterojunctions, summarizes recent advances in designing efficient heterojunction photocatalysts, and provides perspectives on future directions in the field.
