Insights into the effects of bromide at fresh water levels on the radical chemistry in the UV/peroxydisulfate process

Summary: This study examined the effects of bromide (Br-) at fresh water levels on radical chemistry in the UV/peroxydisulfate (UV/PDS) process. The presence of Br- promoted the conversion from sulfate radical (SO4-) to hydroxyl radical (HO-) and secondary reactive bromine species (RBS), significantly altering the radical chemistry of the process. Co-existing Cl- further enhanced the conversion from SO4- to HO- when combined with Br-.
