Defects controlled by acid-modulators and water molecules enabled UiO-67 for exceptional toluene uptakes: An experimental and theoretical study

Xiaodong Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper presents a facile defect-engineering approach using monocarboxylic acid modulators to enhance toluene uptake in UiO-67 MOFs. The presence of water molecules was found to creatively promote adsorption behavior of defective UiO-67, leading to structural changes and stronger interaction between toluene and the material. The study highlights the potential of defect-tunable MOFs as promising materials for gas adsorption applications.

The promoting effect of H2O on rod-like MnCeOx derived from MOFs for toluene oxidation: A combined experimental and theoretical investigation

Xiaodong Zhang et al.

Summary: The 3Mn2Ce catalyst shows superior catalytic performance and stability under high humidity conditions, mainly attributed to the formation of a solid solution between Ce and Mn species and better reducibility. The introduction of water can promote toluene mineralization by activating oxygen vacancies and facilitating the degradation pathway of toluene.

Metal-organic frameworks-derived hierarchical Co3O4/CoNi-layered double oxides nanocages with the enhanced catalytic activity for toluene oxidation

Zhiruo Wu et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that the morphology, composition, and textual properties of CoNi-LDO catalysts can be controlled by tuning the post-synthetic etching reaction conditions. The CoNi-LDO-1 catalyst (Ni/Co molar ratio 0.39) with core-shell structure exhibits excellent activity towards toluene oxidation. This work provides a new strategy for designing high-performance oxidation catalysts for VOCs abatement.

Pt Single Atoms Supported on N-Doped Mesoporous Hollow Carbon Spheres with Enhanced Electrocatalytic H2-Evolution Activity

Panyong Kuang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the tailoring of the electronic structure of Pt single atoms supported on N-doped mesoporous hollow carbon spheres through strong EMSI engineering, leading to the Pt-1/NMHCS composite exhibiting higher activity and stability in catalyzing the electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction compared to Pt-NP and commercial Pt/C. The strong EMSI effect in a unique N-1-Pt-1-C-2 coordination structure significantly modifies the electronic structure of Pt 5d states, enhancing the reduction of adsorbed proton and facilitating H-H coupling for Pt-like HER activity.

Summary: A high-response formaldehyde gas sensor based on Ag-ZnO/In2O3 nanofibers was successfully fabricated, showing superior sensitivity, selectivity and stability, with an ultra-high response value towards formaldehyde. The low detection limit of the sensor can be mainly attributed to the proper design of multi-level heterojunctions, which significantly enhance the sensing performance.
