Fenton-like degradation of sulfamethoxazole in Cu0/Zn0-air system over a broad pH range: Performance, kinetics and mechanism

Yong Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, bimetallic Cu-0/Zn-0 particles were prepared, characterized and used as a Fenton-like catalyst for the degradation of sulfamethoxazole (SMX). The particles showed efficient degradation of SMX over a broad pH range, and the recycling use led to enhanced degradation due to the formation of cuprous oxide (Cu2O) which further activated oxygen. The study proposed a possible pathway of SMX degradation and a catalytic mechanism of the Cu-0/Zn-0-air system.

Fenton/Fenton-like processes with in-situ production of hydrogen peroxide/hydroxyl radical for degradation of emerging contaminants: Advances and prospects

Yong Liu et al.

Summary: Fenton processes, utilizing the reaction between Fe2+ and H2O2 to produce hydroxyl radicals for the degradation of organic pollutants, are efficient but face challenges with traditional bulk feeding of H2O2. In-situ production of H2O2 through O-2 activation in Fenton/Fenton-like processes is gaining attention for its potential advantages in industrial wastewater treatment.

Activation of peroxydisulfate by a novel Cu0-Cu2O@CNTs composite for 2, 4-dichlorophenol degradation

Yong Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel Cu-0-Cu2O@CNTs composite was synthesized and applied to activate PDS for the degradation of 2,4-DCP in contaminated lake water, showing high efficiency and selectivity. The composite overcomes the limitations of using Cu-0 and Cu2O alone, and can effectively degrade 2,4-DCP with high efficiency and selectivity.

Effect of inorganic anions on the performance of advanced oxidation processes for degradation of organic contaminants

Jianlong Wang et al.

Summary: Inorganic anions such as chloride, carbonate, phosphate, sulfate, and nitrate have a significant impact on the performance of Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs). This influence is not solely attributed to their quenching effect, but also affects reactive species, oxidant stability, catalyst activity, and degradation products. Understanding the comprehensive evaluation of the effect of inorganic anions on AOPs is crucial for optimizing the treatment of organic pollutants.
