Erythrocyte membrane-camouflaged carrier-free nanoassembly of FRET photosensitizer pairs with high therapeutic efficiency and high security for programmed cancer synergistic phototherapy

Xuanbo Zhang et al.

Summary: Phototherapy as a non-invasive cancer treatment option faces challenges such as unsatisfactory therapeutic efficacy and severe phototoxicity. A new nanoassembly of Forster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) photosensitizer pairs has been developed to improve treatment efficiency and safety. The FRET pair-based nanoassembly allows controlled release of photosensitizer for photodynamic therapy, enhancing treatment efficacy while minimizing phototoxicity.
