Water accelerates and directly participates soot oxidation: An isotopic study

Weinan Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, heavy-oxygen water was used to investigate the influence of water on soot oxidation in automobile exhaust. It was found that water participated in the oxidation process, acting as an accelerator rather than an oxidant. The promotional effect of water on activity was observed in all conditions, likely due to its ability to dissociate into more active oxygen species and facilitate oxygen vacancies regeneration.

Novel Method for Ozone Isopleth Construction and Diagnosis for the Ozone Control Strategy of Chinese Cities

Huizhong Shen et al.

Summary: Ozone (O-3) isopleths illustrate the nonlinear responses of O-3 concentrations to changes in nitrogen oxides (NOX) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), playing a crucial role in determining O-3 control requirements. Severe O-3 pollution was observed in China in 2017, with significant variations in O-3 responses to emissions of precursors across different cities. City-specific O-3 isopleths generated in this study are essential for developing hybrid and differentiated strategies for O-3 abatement in China.

Ce-Si Mixed Oxide: A High Sulfur Resistant Catalyst in the NH3-SCR Reaction through the Mechanism-Enhanced Process

Wei Tan et al.

Summary: Investigating catalytic reaction mechanisms can guide catalyst design, as demonstrated by the innovative CeO2-SiO2 mixed oxide catalyst (CeSi2) with excellent SO2/H2O resistance in harsh working conditions. The strong Ce-O-Si interaction and abundant surface hydroxyl groups on CeSi2 provide active acid sites and inhibit SO2 adsorption, enhancing the NH3-SCR performance through an enhanced Eley-Rideal mechanism. This work offers a strategy to develop an environmentally friendly NH3-SCR catalyst with superior SO2 resistance.
