Synergistic effect of reduced graphene oxide and near-infrared light on MoS2-mediated electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution

Ya Zhang et al.

Summary: This study presents an effective approach to enhance the electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution of MoS2 with the synergistic effect of rGO and NIR light. The optimized 0.2rGO-MoS2 composite exhibited enhanced activity in a wide pH range under NIR irradiation, without the need for noble metal addition. The electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution by 0.2rGO-MoS2 under NIR irradiation in both acidic and alkaline media was attributed to the Volmer-Heyrovsky mechanism, and the composite showed good reproducibility and durability after repeated cycles and continuous electrolysis.

Spatially Separating Redox Centers and Photothermal Effect Synergistically Boosting the Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution of ZnIn2S4 Nanosheets

Man Wang et al.

Summary: Spatially separated loading of reductive and oxidative cocatalysts on ZnIn2S4 nanosheets was achieved through designing a ternary Co9S8@ZnIn2S4@PdS (CS@ZIS@PS) hollow tubular core-shell structure. This structure not only efficiently improved charge separation and accelerated surface reduction-oxidation kinetics, but also generated a photothermal effect to further enhance charge transfer and surface reaction kinetics. The optimized CS@ZIS@PS showed a remarkable H-2 evolution rate and apparent quantum efficiency, making it one of the highest values among ZnIn2S4 materials.

Facile solvothermal synthesis of a Z-Scheme 0D/3D CeO2/ZnIn2S4 heterojunction with enhanced photocatalytic performance under visible light irradiation

Chen-chen Hao et al.

Summary: Reasonable design of heterojunction photocatalysts is essential to enhance the photocatalytic activity of semiconductors. In this study, an efficient CeO2/ZnIn2S4 composite photocatalyst was synthesized and showed superior degradation efficiency for tetracycline. The enhanced photocatalytic activity is attributed to the Z-scheme heterojunction formed between CeO2 and ZnIn2S4, leading to increased surface area, enhanced redox ability, and high separation efficiency of photogenerated charge carriers.
