The reduction of nitrobenzene by extracellular electron transfer facilitated by Fe-bearing biochar derived from sewage sludge

Summary: In this study, the addition of Fe-bearing sludge-derived biochar combined with Geobacter sulfurreducens accelerated the reduction of NB, forming biochar with redox-active centers. Through the microbial dissimilatory iron reduction mechanism, the biotic and abiotic reduction rates of NB were effectively improved.

Summary: This study investigated a green and sustainable wastewater treatment strategy using mesoporous carbon nanospheres for preadsorption and advanced oxidation, as well as regeneration of the nanospheres. The results demonstrated high removal efficiency and catalytic activity of the nanospheres for neutral, cationic, and anionic organic water contaminants.
